Ice Rink & Grotto of Lights
Lace up and step into the magic. Our synthetic Winter Wonderland Ice Rink brings all the joy of skating without the chill of real ice, with smooth panels, safety barriers, and skates in a range of sizes ready to go. Sessions are planned in timed slots so everyone gets a fair turn, with helpful attendants on hand and optional penguin skate aids for younger skaters. Expect festive music, twinkling lights and a picture-perfect rink edge dressed with winter décor. Depending on demand and weather, we’ll focus opening times on peak days and late afternoons into early evening—perfect for after-school visits and weekend outings. Bookable sessions help us manage numbers comfortably and keep queues moving.
After your glide, wander into our Grotto of Lights—a gentle, family-friendly walkthrough inspired by an enchanted ice cave. Follow a softly lit tunnel into a sparkling “cavern” of icicle lights, snowflakes and frosty textures. Little explorers can pause for photos on the “ice throne,” while ambient soundscapes and subtle projections (think northern lights) complete the sense of wonder. We’ve designed the route to be clear and accessible, with low-heat LEDs, tidy cabling, and careful supervision during busy times. The grotto is open throughout the event period, and really shines after dark—though we’ll create a cozy twilight feel by day, too.
Safety is part of the experience: supervised entry/exit to the rink on rubber matting, sensible session capacities, and clear wayfinding between attractions. The grotto uses flame-retardant décor, low-voltage lighting, and spacious pathways so families can enjoy the moment at their own pace. Round off your visit with a warm drink and a browse through our festive displays—ideal for finding that “one last” decoration or gift.
Victorian Christmas Market
Step back in time at our Victorian Christmas Market—a Dickens-inspired street scene brought to life with costumed characters, carol singers and warmly lit “shopfronts.” Wander between vintage props—barrels, crates and a flickering lamppost effect—while you meet Scrooge (grumbling charmingly), a chimney sweep and friendly carollers who’ll burst into song at set times. Short pop-up performances and sing-along moments keep the atmosphere lively and photogenic. We’re planning focused windows of activity through the afternoon and early evening to capture that nostalgic glow without the bustle becoming overwhelming.
Stalls showcase seasonal food and gifts: think mince pies, gingerbread and classic treats alongside beautifully made crafts from local makers. Depending on the day, you might catch a small brass ensemble or choir set—perfect with a steaming cup of mulled something in hand. Our layout creates a “market square” feel so browsing is relaxed, with clear walkways and seating nooks to pause and soak it all in. Vendors are invited from the local community, adding authenticity and variety while giving small businesses a seasonal platform.
Lighting, signage and stewarding keep everything comfortable and safe, especially as the light fades. If you’re planning a family visit, pair the market with skating or a story session for a full festive afternoon. If you’re coming for nostalgia, arrive later for carols under the “gaslight,” then wander through to our gift area for finishing-touch decorations and hampers. It’s a warm, welcoming way to celebrate the season—and a lovely excuse to return more than once.
Children’s Stories
Create a calm, cozy moment in the midst of the sparkle with our Children’s Storytelling Sessions. Set near the big tree or in a snug “reading nook,” our storyteller—sometimes Santa, sometimes Mrs. Claus or a cheerful elf—reads beloved Christmas tales and short, interactive adventures. Sessions are designed for younger listeners, typically around 20–30 minutes, with gentle sing-along moments or a simple activity to finish. We’re planning after-school times (around 4pm) on selected weekdays, plus an occasional daytime slot at the weekend, so families can choose what works best.
To keep things comfy, we’ll limit group size and recommend pre-booking. Parents and carers stay with their children throughout (this is not a drop-off), and our team keeps the space tidy, warm and welcoming—with seating, soft lighting and seasonal décor that photographs beautifully. For extra magic, some sessions may feature a visit from Santa himself; others spotlight classic poems like ’Twas the Night Before Christmas or gentle snow-day stories that invite little imaginations to wander.
Story time pairs perfectly with a skate, a wander through the Grotto of Lights, or a hot chocolate stop. It’s intentionally simple and soothing—a pocket of stillness where kids feel seen and included. If your child loves to dress up, festive jumpers and elf hats are strongly encouraged. Keep an eye on the schedule and reserve your spot early; short formats and friendly pacing make these sessions ideal for first storytelling experiences and happy, unhurried family memories.
